It took a little while, but the archival community is finally getting on the USA PATRIOT Act bandwagon so ably led by ALA. See the new statement on the PATRIOT Act issued by the Society of American Archivists.
I argued in an address to the New England Archivists last spring that archival concerns with the PATRIOT Act are slightly different than those of librarians. I don't think archivists have the same committment to confidentiality and anonymity that librarians do, but that we should be concerned about public access to the records of PATRIOT Act investigations. You can find a copy of my remarks here.
