I'm giving an Infopeople webcast next Tuesday on legal issues and homeless library users. Special thanks go to John Gehner, coordinator of the Hunger, Homelessness & Poverty Task Force, SRRT, ALA for all his help in preparing the webcast. He also just coauthored a useful article with Kali Freeman, Just a Little Understanding: A Social-Service Provider’s Perspective on Homeless Library Users, from a social service provider's perspective. The article is based on a discussion that the Progressive Librarians Guild student chapter at the College of St. Catherine (St. Paul, Minn.) convened with John Petroskas, a shelter and housing specialist. The chapter also made a podcast of the event - worth listening to.
My upcoming webcast:
Library Services and the Homeless: A Legal Perspective Tues. Sept. 27, 2005 Noon - 1:00 PST
Open to California library community live (for free) - others can view afterwards as an archive (also free). All archives are here. The Infopeople Project is supported by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.
